The Arbiter of Divinity — the Origin Tower and Building an Origin Core

Basic KnowledgePublishedUpdated

The Arbiter of Divinity is a pinnacle boss added in 0.5. It doesn’t exist in any earlier season, which is why searching older guides turns up nothing.

What makes it worth prioritising is separate from the fight itself: each kill can complete an entire section of the Fortress, making it the fastest way to accumulate Atlas passive points. This isn’t just a trophy boss — it’s tied directly to your progression speed.

If you haven’t read it yet, Pinnacle Bosses covers the overall 0.5 structure.

Don’t chase the wrong keys

The official patch notes say “two new Citadel maps with two new bosses that drop keys to the new Pinnacle Boss,” and that wording sends a lot of people off to kill Geonor, Jamanra, and Doryani. Those are the Arbiter of Ash keys.

The bosses you actually need are in the Patriarch Halls and the Matriarch Halls.

Both are unique maps in the Legacy of the Precursors questline. The quest versions sit at the back of the Precursor Fortress, in the section containing the Origin Tower, and afterwards they reappear randomly on the Atlas.

The two maps share an identical layout: you enter at the centre, and the boss arena is in one of the corners. Railcar tracks run throughout, and the tracks light up as a railcar approaches. Getting clipped applies a Heavy Stun and Armour Break, so don’t fight standing on the rails.

Worth knowing: increasing your waystone drop chance can make these bosses drop multiple keys. If you plan on repeat runs, that’s the stat to stack.

Building the Origin Core

With both keys, head to The Origin Tower, inside the Precursor Fortress in the section behind the Burning Monolith.

  1. Find the Precursor Reactor room inside the tower.
  2. Place the Origin Spark and the Origin Cradle in the reactor to create an Origin Core.
  3. Up the stairs there’s an elevator to the top of the tower.
  4. Place the Origin Core at the centre up top to start the fight.

The Origin Tower is area level 79 with unlimited revives, and you can neither gain nor lose experience there. Dying costs you nothing, so there’s very little reason not to learn the fight properly on your first attempt.

The real payoff — auto-completing Fortress sections

This is the part that matters.

After defeating the Arbiter of Divinity, activate one of the beacons at the sides of the arena to complete every map in one section of the Fortress and collect the Atlas passive points from them.

Instead of running Fortress maps one at a time, a single boss kill clears a whole section. Five kills is enough to activate every section of the Fortress.

Given that 0.5 moved Atlas point acquisition entirely into the Fortress, repeating this boss is the fastest route to filling out your tree. The Atlas tree grew past 300 nodes, but clearing the Fortress gives enough points to allocate all of it.

The Halls award points too. Completing them inside the Fortress grants Atlas passive points (the wiki lists 6), and 0.5.1 increased the points awarded by Fortress Towers, Gateways, Enigma Chambers, and Halls — players who had already completed them received the extra points on login.

Preparation

  • Lean on the unlimited revives. With no experience loss either, a first attempt spent purely learning patterns costs you nothing.
  • Not getting hit by railcars is the practical core of running the Halls. Heavy Stun plus Armour Break is especially dangerous in the boss arena.
  • For defensive fundamentals, see The Basics.
