0.5.3 Patch Notes
0.5.3 works through the mechanics one at a time with a single instruction: get back what you put in. Where 0.5.2 lowered difficulty, 0.5.3 rebuilds the reward structure on top of that lowered difficulty. Expedition, Delirium, Breach, Abyss and the Temple each get a block of changes, and the shared pattern is that rewards now grow only when a specific condition is met.
Expedition shows this most clearly. Explosives drop from 20 to 15, while in the same patch Runic Inscription monster reward modifiers roughly double. Fewer explosives means you can no longer afford to detonate carelessly, and each Runic Inscription monster you do hit properly is worth more. Encounters get shorter and aiming matters more. Grand Expedition’s maximum Remnant count now scaling with Waystone Tier removes one more reason to hoard high-tier Waystones.
Delirium cuts both ways. Fog scaling itself is halved, but multiple Delirium Tablets now stack, so three Tablets restore the old value — casual Delirium picked up as a side effect gets weaker, while a build that commits Tablets to Delirium stays where it was. Simulacrum’s broken 0→100% scaling was also fixed, settling it into a definite 100%-to-200% range.
One thing to flag on experience: re-running a map you already attempted now costs an additional 50% experience. If your habit is to reopen the same map after dying, that habit gets more expensive from this patch. Note also that this version was followed by seven hotfixes through roughly June 22, so the figures below reflect the initial release and may differ from the final state.
Runes of Aldur & Expedition
- Max Remnants in a Grand Expedition now scales with Waystone Tier (most at Tier 15+).
- Grand Expedition chests reworked — basic weapon/armour chests removed in favor of currency/unique/waystone chests plus new “mysterious” and “trinket” high-rarity chests.
- Explosives reduced from 20 to 15 (faster encounters, more meaningful choices); Runic Inscription monster reward modifiers roughly doubled.
- Transcendent Alloy can again be applied to Foci and Wands; high-level non-Unique armour Runeforging loses ~20% less defence. Styrn always drops an Expedition Logbook.
Delirium
- Simulacrums now start at 100% Delirious scaling to 200% (the previous 0→100% scaling was bugged/non-functional); Simulacrum maps now spawn on reaching 100% deliriousness.
- Delirium Fog scaling halved so early endgame is less punishing; multiple Delirium Tablets now stack fog effect (three = old value).
- Reduced toughness scaling on Normal/Magic Delirium monsters to match Rares; fixed shard/elite spawn bugs above 150% depth.
Breach
- Breach Strongholds now spawn more maps (roughly the Ziggurat size). New modifiers: Dreamer’s Sight (upgrades monster rarity), Otherworldly Nemesis (extra Rare pack per wave), Xesht’s Fervour.
- Ctrl+Click Breach Fruit consumption for rapid Wombgift opening.
Abyss
- Vessel of Kulemak can now drop Ancient Jawbones/Ribs/Collarbones; Tasgul, Vandroth, and the final Large Abyssal Trove always drop Desecrated Currency.
- Added 13 new Abyssal Wasting modifiers for the Grip of Kulemak ring; new/buffed staff mods.
Temple & general
- “Offerings to the Queen” Temple passive reworked to Corrupt a Rare/Unique monster when Vaal Beacons activate (making the Temple the source of Temple Currency).
- Rogue Exiles no longer drop Corrupted items; previously-attempted maps also give 50% reduced Experience. Geonor/Count Geonor boss nerfs; Sorcery Ward barrier capped at 32,000. Several client crashes fixed.
